Lease Lifecycle

Everything you need to know about creating, activating, and terminating leases.

Leases connect your tenants to your units and drive the automated billing engine.

Creating a Lease

To create a lease, navigate to a Unit or the Leases tab and click New Lease.

Required Information

  • Tenant: Select an existing tenant or create a new one.
  • Unit: The specific unit being rented.
  • Start & End Dates: The term of the lease.
  • Monthly Rent: The base amount to be billed each month.
  • Security Deposit: Recorded at the start of the lease.

Automated Billing

LeasePilot uses the Due Day specified in the lease to generate charges.

  • If the Due Day is the 1st, a charge will be created on the 1st of every month.
  • You can enable Auto-Pay for tenants to automatically collect these funds.

Ending a Lease

When a tenant moves out, use the Terminate Lease action. This stops future automated billing and allows you to record the security deposit return.
